the Stanley R. and Robert E. Wright Foundation Scholarship.
I would like to personally express my appreciation to you
and all who have made this possible for me. I am now able
to particpate in the National Academy's program.
This
scholarship grant has enabled me to pursue my life long goal.
Becoming a professional artist is serious business for me
and those who are supporting me along the way will not be
forgotten. I am truly, truly grateful for this gift that was
given to me. Thank you so very much.

To
the Stanley R. and Robert E. Wright Foundation for The Arts,
I feel blessed by your generosity that has
allowed many others and myself to continue to study an art
form at the National Academy of Design.
For me, free study is one of the greatest
gifts that I could have received. ... I am quite fortunate
to have been selected for your scholarship and plan to take
advantage of the opportunity.
Sincerely
Noah Bowers

Dear Mr. Wright,
I was a recipient of the Wright Foundation Scholarship at the National Academy of Design School in NYC in 2003. I hope the belated nature of this correspondence does not negate its message of gratitude, or its value to you. I have spent much of the last two years painting and studying in different locations overseas and I have often been somewhat out of touch or not in a position to produce photos of my work. So it is that I regrettably am only writing now to express my thanks for your support of my studies. Your scholarship enabled me to study at the National Academy School, where otherwise I would have been unable to do so. Their exceptional teachers and their excellent studios have been key factors in the development of my work.
I have enclosed five images of paintings which directly relate to my work at the school. These works have all been completed in the last two years. Three of them: Unfinished Portrait of a Man, Donna, and Two Figures, were done at the National Academy School under your foundation's scholarship. The fourth painting in this group, Maharashtran Girl, was done last fall in the village of Arangaon in rural Maharashtra, India. The scale of all of the paintings is life-sized or greater.
I have included a short biographical statement below. Again, thank you for your support, which has been invaluable to me, and I hope that you are able to make use of the images below.
Sincerely,
Alexander Cox
Alexander Cox studied English and Classics at the University of Texas at Austin, before deciding to dedicate himself exclusively to studying classical piano performance. He studied under Wei Tsin-Fu and taught piano at the Musikakademie Tbingen, in Tbingen, Germany, before an injury forced him to abandon the piano. In January of 2002 he began studying art at The Art Students' League of New York and the National Academy School of Design, primarily with Mary Beth McKenzie. He has received two first prizes at the National Academy School Year-End Juried Exhibition, a scholarship to study in Florence, Italy, from the Newington Cropsey Foundation, and numerous other scholarships and prizes. He recently returned from a painting trip in rural Maharashtra, India, and currently lives and paints in New Jersey while continuing to study part-time at the National Academy School.

Dear Mr. Wright,
I am so pleased that we were able to award the Stanley R. & Robert E. Wright
Foundation for the Arts Scholarship to Esteban Jefferson. He is a 17 year
old high school student, who has been studying at the National Academy of
Fine Arts since he was 10 years old. At the age of 15 he was permitted to
attend the adult class on Saturday with Dan Gheno, one of our very fine
painting instructors. ....
Yours sincerely, Nancy Little, School Director
